The ancient egyptian religion was polytheistic as they worshipped many gods. Tutankhamun's family were disliked by the people because they were trying to convert people to a monotheistic religion where they worshipped only one god. Ancient Egyptians worshipped and prayed to them. Many gods were half animal half human. Ra, the sun god had the head of an eagle. Annubis had the head of a jackal. They believed in afterlife and buried their dead with treasures and items that they would need in the afterlife. They would mummify the dead so that their bodies would be preserved and the organs would be preserved in canopic jars. To enter the afterlife, the deceased's heart would be weighed against a feather to see how good they were during their life. Pharohs were excepted from this. Osiris was the god of the afterlife. Ancient egyptians viewed their pharohs as god's in human form.

The gods were viewed as mostly human however had some animal mix as well. They saw the cat as some kind of powerful creature that they worshipped, killing a cat back then would be punishable by death. They lived in a monarchy were the rulers were given expensive riches. The rest of the population had to work to earn money.

Egyptians believed gods and had pharaohs as rulers. Each thing that the Pharaohs wore had a significant meaning. They were also quite poor, so they had thieves that took a lot of the peoples things. They also believed if you had a proper burial and you were buried in a stone coffin that had furniture and jewels if you were wealthy enough. This way of burial made them believe that in the after life they turned into a different animal life form. They also thought of Pharaohs as Gods in a human form. This shows the respect level they had for their leaders.

By Jazmin Martin
