Upon graduating college, I joined the U.S. Army as a Military Intelligence officer and my 1st duty station lead me to Fort Huachuca located at Sierra Vista, AZ. Arizona became my home when I realized that it did not snow in Phoenix. I joined the Tempe police department in 2001 and have served there every since. ]]> 2019-01-12 05:45:31 UTC https://padlet.com/sistafloetry/nnpjc1x8kthh/wish/319919483 sistafloetry https://padlet.com/sistafloetry/nnpjc1x8kthh/wish/319919484 In 2005, I was promoted to  Juvenile Detective and worked as a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Tempe High School for 7 years.  Part of my job duties included  investigating crimes, conducting my regular police officer duties and TEACHING.  Yes, SRO's were expected to teach 180 class hours per school year.  Teachers would allow us into their classroom to teach Law Related Education topics.  

It was here that I realized that I loved everything about teaching.  I loved interacting with the students, teaching them, and giving them the tools needed to be successful. They are my world wrapped in the most beautiful package.  I am invested in their well-being and their education.   On Mondays, I volunteer in my girls Kindergarten classroom not only to help the teacher but to engage with the students as well. I love every minute of it and enjoy helping the teacher and the class.
