It was just a positive way to start my day. I will always remember this. I always greet my students the same because of him :)

Mine is a negative experience that had a positive impact on my life. I can remember my second grade teacher absolutely losing it because I was not writing my math problems on the lined paper. I remember being scared of her, but I also started doing my math homework on lined paper and making sure everything was lined up. Whenever I teach kids anything about math, that is one of the first things I go over with them. I try to do it in a much nice way than my 2nd grade teacher did though.

Kristen Parker---- In high school physics class, I was struggling to pass. My teacher knew it and decided that instead of letting me drop the class, he decided that he would let me take it pass/fail and help me along the way. Best connection I had with a high school teacher. Thank you Mr. Bell.

7th grade English class (my first 7th grade year). Our teacher told us to sit in rows that would correspond to the grade that we wold like to achieve on the upcoming report card. I sat in the "C" row hoping to improve from the "F" I had received previously. He looked me in the eyes and told me to get up and move to the "F" row. I never tried in his class after that experience. I missed so much school that year that I was retained.

In high school we had a guest speaker come to speak to us about suicide. It was an extremely emotional talk in the moment but for the life of me I cannot remember what was said in that speech now. What I can vividly remember, is our theater teacher trying to talk to us about it in class and then absolutely breaking down in tears about his own experience as a father who had lost his child to suicide. His grief was palpable. I doubt if any student in our class doesn't remember that vividly. It really strengthened our connection to him as an entire person, not just as a teacher, but as a father, as a person who had suffered enormous tragedy and could still function with his grief. In the moment of his grief and tears, we were all very nervous. I don't thing any of us had ever experienced a teacher breaking down like that before. But that parental grief has stayed with me for FOREVER. Any time I hear mention of suicide I think of how devastated he was.

At Windemere elementary, there was a teacher in 5th grade that ended being a mentor to me. Mr. Brooks wasn't even one of my teachers. He found out that I was going to fight another student after school one day, and as I was getting ready to leave school, he asked me to join him in his classroom for a moment. I went in and he managed to purposefully keep me in his classroom long enough for the student that I was supposed to fight to get tired and leave. That time I spent with him began a relationship that helped create someone I could talk to about anything, could help me with school work, and mentor me through my parents divorce. As a very angry young man, he was very positive influence in many of the decisions I made after that day.

At Copley MIddle School my badn director, Mrs. Ciulla had sort fo a "freakout moment" where she got so fed up with our nonsense and misbehavior that she literally got up off of her podium, walked out of the room, and quietly sat in her office the rest of the period. I remember going back to her office before I went onto my next class and asking her why we didnt get to finish rehearsal, and she explained to me that she could no longer control her emotions because of how passionate she was for the music we were making.
