They also exerted a system of tributing to neighboring states. This gave China the ability to create relationships with these states and to freely exchange information. The territory that China had covered was surveilled by a day-to-day affair system which enforced the Chinese laws. Force of culture was not forced but was very much custom to China if you wanted to be accepted into their social classes. This was done as a form of oppression and control. The military forces took incoming information very seriously to prevent a revolt. While there was a head full of small rebellions it was often incited by ethnic minorities. However, holding this system was very difficult due to the fact of everything that was happening in Europe. The decolonization process began after the fall of the Qing dynasty. A Lot of territories requested to stay a part of China but with some policy changes. Of course some colonies opted to have independance but this was made difficult. An example is Hong Kong now.
