         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) Expectation of the P1 students' reading when they first come in will be low .<br>2) Reading is very important as it is the foundation of all aspects.&nbsp;<br>3) Reading programme should be able to support the teachers.<br>4) Morning reading programme was very helpful, prior to Covid.<br>5) Get the pupils to read daily.&nbsp;<br>6) Can the parent volunteers or primary 3 students help these lower primary students?<br>7) Have supplementary readers biweekly and teachers go through the books with the students. Rotate the books amongst the level. Have graded books for the different levels within the class.<br>8) LSP or LP students should have daily reading programme.<br>9) Have a level go to the hall after recess to do reading theatre to motivate the children to read.<br>10) Same titles to be read as a class and the worksheets/discussions can be used to reinforce the book read.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We notice...<br>- A few pupils in P1/2 could not speak clearly (comprehensible sentences).&nbsp; [LP]<br>- listening is important in LP; leads to speaking vocabulary and thus reading. <br><br>Maybe we can...?<br>- important for teachers to model speaking standard English at all times &amp; <strong>gently</strong> correct pupils' spoken English&nbsp;<br>- activities to encourage pupils to speak good English (like a campaign)<br>- teach pronunciation explicitly (speaking overlap with reading); Word Study in STELLAR 2.0<br>- Listening Comprehension: can scaffold for Low-Progress (match questions to parts of text)<br>- use pictures as resources to encourage speaking, e.g. Ladybird, picture books, storytelling cards (ALP)<br>- Talk Move Cards can be used on a regularly basis to create speaking (presentation) opportunities in class<br>- ICT tools can be used on a regularly basis to create speaking (presentation) opportunities in class, e.g. Flipgrid<br><br></div>]]></description>

Talk about an author.&nbsp;<br>2) The newspaper ordered for the level can be used for vocab building.<br>3) Role-play can be an activity to build on their reading.&nbsp;<br>4) Reader Theatre can be continued.<br>5) English Fortnight termly can be re-introduced, to motivate the students to read and practise the 5Ps.<br>6) Set aside time weekly within a class for sharing of a book, presentation of the book.<br>7) Book Recommendation via Flipgrid to encourage the children to read and share.<br>8) Show-and-Tell via Flipgrid to encourage children to present and enjoy what they like. </div>]]></description>
