She's her own person, and she shouldn't have to listen what others are telling her when it's about her future. Don't be worried about who you're going to marry or if you get married, focus on you dreams first.

For this picture, I feel like this is what Beneatha would look like if she was a teen/young adult in 2019. The way she cut her hair, and how she chooses to dress.

the lyrics relate to Beneatha because in the song, they're talking about how they're getting their life ripped from them, but when they wake up it's still all there and they're still alive. Beneatha, back in the 50's, felt that she could do anything, but had doubts from her family and the guys she was talking to.

Go ahead and laugh – but I’m not interested in being someone’s little episode in America or – (With feminine vengeance) – one of them!

Beneatha believes that a woman should do what her heart desires and not "what it says in all the novels that men write." They're more than what they say, and Beneatha doesn't want to be like that. She wants to be a doctor, and to help people who need it.

'Still I Rise' by Maya Angelou

’You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.’

This poem relates to the character because it's explaining you can break down the person, do anything to them and they still rise and continue to fight. In the 50's, African Americans were seen as people who didn't deserve to be there. They were treated very poorly, and yet they still made it to this day. This is how I feel Beneatha was like. Yes, she got rude comments, but she still pushed through her day and made the best of it.
