         <description><![CDATA[<div>This unit will aim to improve on students' <strong>thinking skills, communication skills, research skills </strong>and<strong> conceptual understanding. <br><br></strong>This unit will allow students to do hone their research skills. Through this, they will be confident in evaluating the claims of the various texts. Furthermore, through individual or group presentations, this practice will instil confidence to present in front of their peers, which will come in useful for their IA. <br><br>It will allow them to reflect with greater sensitivity on the contexts and understand the similarities and differences among texts, be it concepts, themes, voice or style.</div>]]></description>

They would also be required to do some research with their classmates on the context and the impact it has on the production of a text. They would be tasked in offering their interpretations and debate on the validity of their claims.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><br></strong>By exposing students to several renowned as well as controversial speakers, they would learn to understand the various issues of different times and how they have an impact on society. <br><br>This could be tied into the ATLs: local and global contexts as well as enable them to understand the the similarities and differences of social/political issues across times and make connections as they prepare for their IA.<br><br>Some texts that I have in mind are MLK's famous 'I Have a Dream' speech and contrasted with Obama's inaugural speech, Katie Hopkin's anti-immigration speech</div>]]></description>
