Many of the articles I found are opinion articles. This is because they are easier to come across such as in blogs. They describe what the authors think advancements in technology have been and could be in the coming years. They are mostly credible when looking for surface level knowledge but not for specific details. This is why when wanting more details you should look for books and other specific titles.

I have observed a sixth grade classroom and much of the learning is based on the computers for students. The teacher presented information about the American Revolution and then the students were tasked with filling out a google document with hyperlinks and articles to read about the war. It was individual work and the teacher checked in at the end to find out what the students had learned. She said the following day is when they would dive into the information. The students learned how to research in detail, about a topic and navigate through different articles. Without technology, the teacher could introduce a topic and ask the students to brainstorm what they already know then report out. She then could have taken it from there and done large group instruction and small group activities to teach new material.

One time that I used the principles was when my eighth grade teacher had us reenact how the world was during World War II to understand the magnitude of the issues. We even played online simulations to see if we would survive during that kind of economy.

The principle I choose is that learning is promoted when new knowledge is integrated into the learners' world. Throughout lessons I would bring in topics that students are interested in and ask open ended questions to see how they think this new knowledge is related.

Students can use WebQuests when teachers are not here or as homework to continue learning. In class, this can be used As A discovery or review activity both individually and as small groups. It's a way to introduce the idea of researching information on a topic.

I support blocking and filtering websites for younger children in schools because there are many dangerous sites out there that children do not know about. Also filtering social media helps keep students focused on their learning. Overall, filters are good to block inappropriate sites but not everything so children learn how to surf the internet.
