taaruf session

Discussion on adab as a student - in my opinion this is a good topic to be brought into attention because a lot of people tend to oversee the importance of having adab with your leactures and how it effects the knowledge that we gain from them. From this discussion i got to hear amazing opinions on how my sisters viewed this particular topic and shared their experiences, indirectly i got to fact checked myself on whether i practice the teachings of islam in gaining knowledge in my lectures. This opened my eyes and reminded me that adab comes first before knowledge.

A quranic verse that described God’s power.

A story from the quran about one of the prophets, my group shared the story of Nabi Yunus AS in the belly of a whale and yet again i got truly fascinated by Allah’s power in altering the life story of Yunus AS and our prophets.

Recited surah Nuh with its tafseer

Discussing 6 articals of faith

[ Believe in kiamah and hereafter]

Discussed on the conditions and signs before the kiamah occurs. The signs all have a timeline such as a big war will happen, then the existence of al mahdi, arrival of dajjal, the descent of prophet isa, the war between prophet isa and dajjal and the sun rises from the west. Other than that, we also talked about the conditions of people in the hereafter;

some walked on their feet, some on their hands and some on their head

Humans will be naked but everyone will be too busy thinking of their ending than to be ashamed

The sun will be a hand span from our heads ; some will be drowned in their own sweat

Conclusion was that in the end we will be alone in facing the kiamah and the hereafter, so be sure you are searching for Allah’s pleasure.

[Qada and Qadar]

If we compare islam and atheist, it is different in how we see life. It is of no wonder that they can not stand this harsh life while we believe that everything is written by Allah. Everything has been written by Allah in the Luh Mahfuz, because Allah is All Knowing. Everything happens according to Allah’s will. As muslims it is important that we believe in Qada’ and Qadar even if its good or bad, because we trust that Allah has our best interest in mind.

Summary : the pillars of islam consists of 5 things (syahadah, salat, zakat, sawn and hajj) , as muslims we have to believe in all 5 and truly understand that islam is protecting us- In syaa Allah that will make us strong muslims.

Ihsan in the stories of the prophets in the Quran

Gallery Walk

We were divided into groups of three and each got a prophet to relate their stories in the quran with the 3 characteristics of ihsan which are :

Doing good deeds towards other people

Doing good deeds towards other people within the best of our capabilities

Doing good deeds solely for Allah SWT

My group was chosen for prophet Ibrahim and we explained how prophet Ibrahim AS still gave dakwah even to the extent that he was punished to be thrown in the fire, he also never gave up on his mission to spread islam despite his dad being a woshipper of idols. Lastly prophet ibrahim put his trust fully in Allah SWT to protect him even when people accused him of destroying the idols ( in which he did hahah that was a funny story) but the most admirable of all was when Allah made the fire cool for Ibrahim.

Next group was prophet Yusuf AS. In his story they explained how yusuf was patient in handling the wife of aziz (the couple who bought yusuf which happened to be the ruler of the kingdom) when she wanted to commit zina with yusuf. Surely it wasn’t easy for yusuf and yusuf also wanted to protect zulaikha from commiting zina by denying her, not just for himself but for the both of them. Yusuf was even willingly to go to jail because his intentions were purely for Allah SWT and he trusted Allah will protect him.

The last group got the prophet Nuh AS. This prophet is famously known for his ark. In his story the presentators highlighted Nuh’s trust in Allah’s guidance to build a huge ark on top of a hill despite being called crazy by his people. Plus the engineering Nuh did were all guidance of Allah because if not so then how would he know how to built a huge ark, more so doing it alone? Nuh AS trusted Allah fully even though he didn’t know the reason why or what was to come. A fact they also mentioned was that Nuh has given dakwah for 950 years but only had followers between 70-80.

In the end we all understood the high level of trust the prophets prossess in Allah SWT and his guidance and that we should follow their example in becoming a better ummah.

HOW WE CAN PRACTICE SBR DURING SAWN OR OUTSIDE RAMADAN.

Sabar during sawm contributes a lot in shaping a person’s discipline and character development. This is because fasting teaches us restraint, such as controlling the urge to eat, drink etc.

For instance, during sawm, individuals abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs from dawn to sunset. This practice helps a person develop the discipline to resist immediate gratification.

Quranic ayah that relates to this topic is Surah Al-Baqarah (2:155–157)

"And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is they who are [rightly] guided."

Fasting can be seen as a test of hunger and patience, and this verse highlights the reward for those who remain patient.
