The Primary objectives of a school is to get children to and from school safely, and to create a safe and efficient learning environment for all students. A child, or a parent of a child, should not have to worry about their child getting to and from school safely. Children should be able to get to and from school safely, no exceptions. With all of the horrific acts of violence going on in schools, there should be stricter laws applying to firearms.

Actually, we wouldn’t be taking your freedom. We would be giving freedom to all the students that could still lose their lives in a horrific act of violence. I am not suggesting that all guns go away. I actually like the idea of being able to hunt for my own food, but I feel as though stricter rules could be applied; such as rigorous background checks to ensure that you are not mentally unstable, or that a mentally unstable person could not get their hands on the weapon, and to have a test like a drivers ed class, where if you fail, you don't get the gun. I do not believe that we need to take away any specific firearms, because firearms are not the problem, it’s the people who can get their hands on the firearms who do bad. I also believe that we as a country could be taking mass shootings with more solemnity, because the death of fellow people is NOT a joke. You, or your kid, could be the next victim of a school shooter. Think about that…

Giving firearms to untrained teachers is a good idea how? If anything, it will be endangering the students more, because there is a chance that the weapon will go off, or a teacher will overact and fire upon a student. Furthermore, the amount of training that you need to be able to fire a weapon in an enclosed public space is huge. The "training" that these teachers get is a 3 hour class on how to aim and pull the trigger. The number of hours that you need to fire a weapon in an enclose public space, is 900 hours. See the difference yet? If you don't, think on this: would you trust your kid to drive your brand new, expensive car the day he turns 15 1/2?
