An artist from Ratliff's list of examples that I can Identify with is lil Wayne. I've been listening to him since early middle school, and he has a ton of music. He's released over 10 albums since the year 2000. Because he has so much music, I'm not going to like every single song, the odds are that is what will happen, but there a lot that I do like as well. It kind of goes both ways. An example of a song that I do like is...

Panic! At the disco

I started listening to Panic! at the disco at a very young age. My older siblings really enjoyed them, and they I was greatly influenced by my brother and sister so of course I became a fan. They have a 5 albums with some singles sprinkled throughout their years of work, some made for movies and some are covers that they've done of other songs. Their more recent stuff has not been nearly as good as their older albums. "A fever you can't sweat out" and "Vices and virtues" In my opinion are their best albums and I can play those on repeat and Never get tired of any song on their. They don't have as great of a collection of music as some other artists but the majority of their music and awesome and can be played at any time of the day no matter what I am doing. If you haven't listened to Panic! At the disco before, I'd start with their first album and work your way through so you can see how they've developed over time.

This song by Panic! At the Disco is from their Vices and Virtues album and it is one of my favorite. It just sounds so happy and uplifting, it makes me just want to get up and go, get stuff done and do what I want. It brings back good memories and reminds me of summer. I would recommend this to anybody who's feeling down.

"It's true that we can have clean, short, and ruthless relationships with our music." - Ratliff page 114

I picked out this quote by Ratliff because I like how true and relatable it is. There are some songs or musicians as a whole who I listen to for a short amount of time then never return to them. On the other hand though, there are some who are on every playlist I create and never leave my Spotify library. I just find it interesting that some music can connect to us so strongly that It's always something we can listen to while others only fit the mood in that moment.

"The point is a larger array of music than the eye can see on the shelf, than the ear can take in within one cycle of memory. It doesn't reduce to a song or an album. It's a relationship." - Ratliff page 123.

I like the idea of listening to music as a relationship. I look it like listening to a song once or even a couple time isn't enough, To truly understand the meaning of the music, you have to put effort into it like you do in a relationship. You have to listen multiple times to even begin to actually hear what it's saying.
