Many
people in Indonesia, China and Bangladesh, have to go through long working
hours and get little pay. This is because the vast majority of these people
won't have any other options. Many of the sweatshop workers in these three
countries have to work overtime just to feed themselves. On average workers in
Nike's sweatshops in Indonesia get paid $1.25 USD. What needs to happen for the
people working in these sweatshops is to have higher wages and shorter hours.

Our company uses factories in less developed countries so
that we can pay them less and get more profit and then can charge you, the
consumer, less for our products. We are giving these people jobs and money when
otherwise they would be unemployed and starving so this scenario is a win for
all parties involved. Some people argue that the working conditions are
terrible but for our company to improve these conditions we would have to
charge you the consumer more for our products so in the end its whether society
is willing to pay more for products and because we don’t think that they would
pay more we would fall behind in business and end up having to cut jobs and these
people would go back to being unemployed. Our company saves money and therefore
makes our products cheaper by not having workers benefits and other unnecessary
things. There are many reasons why we choose these countries including cheap
workers and a market for goods and access to natural resources and raw
materials which saves money for the consumer.

Over the last 50
years, the fast-paced financial-fuelled thrust of globalisation has had a
significant impact on the natural environment. The ability for large
Multi-national-corporations to produce goods in developing countries that lack
strict-environmental laws has caused significant environmental damage,
primarily to developing countries. The dumping of toxic chemicals often used
for dyeing and treating clothing into local waterways, inappropriate rubbish disposal, , air pollution and the
clearing of natural habitats for urbanisation are all primary ways in which
globalisation takes place without appropriate consideration taken towards the
environment. The impact of this is great, over the past 30 years, 30% of the
world's natural environment has been destroyed, populations of freshwater
animal and plant species have been halved and the abundance of natural forests
have declined by 10%. Globalisation also has a big effect on global warming.
Increased international travel and trade and the destruction of natural life to
be replaced with factories has contributed greatly to the production of
greenhouse gas and global warming, causing rising sea levels, increased global
temperature, species extinction and a higher rate of natural disasters. But,
globalisation doesn't need to have such a negative impact on the environment.
The establishment of new environmental protection laws that disable MNC's from
mass polluting both in developing and developed countries would significantly
help lessen the current wave of environmental destruction. Environmentalists
argue that because globalisation is constantly increasing company wealth,
self-established policies which protect the environment should become
increasingly affordable. Initiatives such as carbon-offset policies and
'give-back-to-nature' funds can actually create more positive effects on the
environment. Overall, globalisation can be environmentally sustainable if
companies and consumers are willing to spend extra potential profit to ensure
that their livelihoods will last for a longer period of time.

As the Activist I have done research and I have found that the poor countries have been found to be take advantage of by the rich factories and example of this is in the sweat shops, they are forced to $1.25 a day and after having paid for electricity and rent they are lift with about 70 cents which accounts to about 7000 rupiah to pay for food and other necessities. workers for overtime ours (about 15 hours a day 7 day a week) because they couldn't get by on their normal wages. with this poor wage they cant afford to sent their kis to school and even attempt to break the cycle for these harsh conditions. the living conditions that the workers have to living in are incredibly inhumane with sewage in the streets, rats a cockroaches in peoples houses.

another example of this is in Peru, they will be flooded with cheap imported cotton, decreasing the price of cotton and forcing their own farmers into ruins, just so they can get the cheapest price.
