I kept them engaged by changing activities frequently and they worked out really well. Another challenge was the language barrier. I had no problem helping them to translate their work to Spanish or explaining things to them but when they all started talking amongst each other I had problems keeping up. The last problem I had was them copying off of each other. The teacher I worked with was very helpful in teaching me the way she does things and I was able to go off of that with my group of kids. I learned that it is really important to stay organized because there is a lot of confusion if you don't keep up with it, but thankfully I did not have to experience that. I was only able to compare three out of the five students that I worked with because one moved and the other was on vacation. All of my students more than doubled their original scores and I was so proud. One student Camila, originally scored 66/114 and improved to 107/114. Leonardo first scored 68/113 and then scored 97/113. The student that showed the most growth was Matthew. I learned so much from actually being in the classroom and being responsible for my own tasks I loved it. I honestly wish it didn't have to end, it went by too fast. I feel really accomplished that I made a positive impact in these children's lives and I'm glad I got to be apart of their journey. It was rough at first and I was worried that I had took on too much but it turned out so well and I know that I improved their learning and understanding of English.
