This is a Fantasy Book. This is letter to my teacher.

Dear Dr. Solomon,
This was by far one of my favorite books as a child. I loved the scales on the rainbow fish, as well as the sea life illustrated in this book. Now that I am older I can really appreciate the message in the story. When the rainbow fish didn't have any friends, he asked the octopus for guidance, and the octopus said to discover how to be happy. Then the rainbow fish found out that sharing his scales and making others happy made him happy. It could definitely fit the phrase "sharing is caring". I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be adding it to my library that I am building for my future classroom.

Sincerley,
Bailey

Chapter Book #5
This is a Newberry Winner. This is a defining quote.
“How many feelings can one heart hold?... Infinite, Luna thought. The way the universe is infinite. It is light and dark and endless motion; it is space and time, and space within space, and time within time. And she knew: there is no limit to what the heart can carry.”

I loved this quote because it is so true. This book was full of emotions and endless amounts of it to be held by everyone who read this book. If you truly think about how much feeling a heart can hold, you start to become amazed. There is no limit to how much love you can share in the world. When a mother has a child, she doesn't run out of love to give to her next child, or the next. This is another reason I loved this book, because it really focused on a mother's love, whether it be from a biological mother or someone who has chosen to take the role and give a child love. I would recommend this book to my own students someday!

Chapter Book #7
A Blue Bonnet Award Winning Novel. This is a recommendation to a friend.

Dear Emily,

When I read the book “Out of My Mind”, I was not prepared for the emotions that I would feel. This book has joy, sadness, tragedy, and inspiration all throughout its pages. This is by far one of the best books that I have ever picked up to read. It’s about a girl with Cerebral Palsy, who cannot communicate like you and I. She is seen as less than, and insignificant because of her condition. Even her doctor thinks that she is unintelligent and understands nothing. But what they don’t know is that she is full of knowledge. She remembers every song she’s ever heard, and the people closest to her know that she is smarter than all of them. Throughout her struggles her care-taker/babysitter pushes her to learn how to communicate, because she believes in her. If this story taught me anything, it has taught me not to judge a book by its cover. Just because someone has physical disabilities doesn’t mean they are unintelligent. I recommend this book to you and to everyone who has come into contact with children, or students with disabilities. It will shed new light and new perspective on how you view the world.

Chapter Book #4
This is a Realistic Fiction book. This is a book review.

This book is one of my favorite books I have ever read. I have read it several times and specifically chose it again for this project. Ida B is homeschooled, she's imaginative, creative, and adventurous. She's your typical happy-go lucky fourth grade girl. I love the fact that Ida B. would talk to the apple trees in her orchard, it gave this book some mystical essence, even though you knew it was her imagination. When the trees began to tell her trouble was coming, she went to the oldest tree because she felt that being older must mean being more wise and telling the truth. Reading this book now, I see that Ida B. probably had some sort of inkling that trouble was coming and she was scared and wanted someone to tell her it was going to be okay. Later in the story Ida B's mother got very sick, and they had to sell some of the land with her trees, and send her to public school. This send Ida B into a dark place which is very sad to me. But I love that Mrs. Washington would try her best to get Ida B. to open up, but without pushing her to do so. She was patient with her. This is something I want to replicate as a future teacher myself. I want to be the teacher that can reach students and be there for them when they are going through hard times. Now that I have read this book at this stage in my life, I was able to take different things from this book than I had before. That's why I love this book. You can always get something new from reading it just one more time.

Chapter Book #3
This book is an Autobiography about Walt Disney. This is a defining quote.
"Walt Disney has been gone for a long time. However, he is still entertaining people through Disney books, records, movies, toys, and his parks all over the world, where each year millions of families come with one idea--to have fun." Pg. 101
This quote defines Walt Disney's entire life's work. It was Walt's dream and passion to make people smile, and to entertain. Even as a child he was considered the class clown. The amount of effort and hard work Walt Disney put into his life's passion is what makes this quote so meaningful to me. Even though Walt Disney has passed away, people will forever enjoy what gifts he has given the world.

Chapter book #8
This is a Historical Fiction. This is a book review.
I really enjoyed the writing style of this book. It was short free-verse poems that really gave the reader a mental picture of the events that were happening in Ha's life. This book was about a 10 year old girl from Vietnam, who's family had to leave because of the war. They arrived to America and had to stay in refugee camps until they arrived in their sponsor home in Alabama. Ha's descriptive poems give insight to how refugees experience entering a new country under such stressful circumstances. Learning a new language, starting a new school, and learning a new culture entirely different from their own. All of these things were struggles that she dealt with. I found it very inspiring and eye opening to be able to get an inside look on the life of a war refugee. I felt the emotions Ha felt when she was being bullied, and didn't feel like she was smart anymore. This really hit home for me because being a future educator I want to make sure that all students know they have the potential to do whatever they set their mind to. Every child is smart, and I would love to use this book in my own classroom someday to give my students insight on the struggles she dealt with and how she overcame them.

This book would be great for kiddos because its written in easy to understand words and phrases, and the illustrations are absolutely adorable. This book can also help teach children morals, and right from wrong. The fact that we do not enter someone's home with out asking. It also touches base on different sizes of things, along with different textures, such too hard or too soft. I definitely will be keeping this book in my collection for my future classroom.

by Charles Perrualt
This is a traditional story. This is a book review.

When I read this version of Little Red Riding Hood, I was surprised. This is not the tale I was told as a child. The tale I was told as a child was that Little Red met the wolf and he beat her to her grandmother’s house, but he did not eat the grandmother. Instead he trapped her in the closet, and only attempted to eat Little Red, but she managed to out-smart the wolf. This version written by Charles Perrault, is very old fashioned and grim. I can see where the times have changed when writing traditional tales. In the past, these traditional stories were told to teach children moral lessons. In this tale, the lesson of the tale was to not trust strangers, because you could end up hurt. I definitely enjoy the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, and I agree with the lesson being taught to children to be careful, and to be aware of their surroundings.

The way the character interacted with the reader was a different approach than I have seen before. Chester knew that the reader was reading a book and made changes to the book and would argue with the author in the book itself. The author did an amazing job creating an ornery cat to be the star of her book series. This would be a perfect book for kids to read with their parents, going back and forth reading the different parts. Almost like a play! I would definitely love to add this book to my collection when I become a future teacher.

Children will be able to enjoy and understand the clear sentences, and simple events that they can relate to in their own daily lives. I loved how the author really gave Olivia a pure childlike personality that relates with every child who will read this book.

by Deborah Hopkinson
This is a Bluebonnet Award Nominee. This is a book review.
I wish this book was around when I was growing up! I absolutely love sea life and learning more about it. This author did an amazing job using this story book to give students information about sea turtles and having the characters do what they needed to help the babies get to the ocean. This book is a great way to teach kids that you can brainstorm to solve any issue and you can do things like bake sales, and make posters to notify others about the cause. Another trait I loved about this book was the watercolor illustrations. The pictures were just enticing and drew me in to enjoy the book that much more.

by Pat Mora
This book is a Pura-Belpre Award winner. This is a recommendation.
This book was absolutely one of my favorites I've read this semester. I recommend this book for future teachers to use when discussing the fun of books and reading. Also I love how you can use this book to discuss culture and diversity of children and people all around the world and the different languages they speak. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and I would love to see more books like this. I really enjoyed the bilingual aspects of this book, and how it can teach kids that learning a new language can be fun and exciting.

by Dr. Suess
This is a Banned Book. This is a letter to my Professor.

Dear Dr. Solomon,
I chose this book to be my banned book choice because I find it quite humorous that someone found this book offensive. I read in an article that a father because very upset that this book was being read to his kids in school. He didn't like the fact it showed kids physically jumping on their father. He insinuated it showed kids it was okay to abuse their father. In all honesty, I think banning this boo on that reason alone is ridiculous. It is clearly a playful type of "hopping on pop", and this book it meant to be silly. Hopefully there will not be anymore books banned for such ridiculous reasons.

Bailey Schaffer
