There are different types of genres, Action, Mystery, Supernatural, Fantasy, Drama, and Comedy. Of course, there are more genres but there are so many I can't name them all. But the most popular anime right now is Dragonball, One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach. Of course, there is more popular anime around the world but these are the most known ones. Anime is a unique thing in Japan, It's also hard work. Artist has to spend so much of their time just making one episode, some artist might take so long that it takes months to make a new season. Before Japan had guns, they were called Samurais. Samurais are warriors that rode on horses and had bamboo and metal as armor, they had a 6-foot bow and a sword. They can use the swords for 2 things, Fighting enemies or killing themselves with them. 
Besides the Samuries, Japan went on a country-domination spree. They conquered most of Asia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Bothe of the Koreas, and others. They wanted to take the U.S. but then started a war. The U.S. had enough and dropped 2 nuclear bombs which made Japan retreat.
