Something that stood out to me in this course is the Electronic Literature Assignment. Not only is this a resource that I can use in a classroom of my own one day, but I also learned about several genres and resources for students to learn more about themselves. Having reading options for students is essential as they can pick a piece of literature that is appealing to them. Along with providing age appropriate reading level books. Books and readings stick with students and I am so excited to share my findings and favorite reads with them one day!

Something that I really loved about this course is that you gave us multiple types of assignments that can benefit many types of learners. I really enjoyed making our games and electronic file because it allowed me to be creative and enjoy doing work that will be beneficial for me in the future as a teacher. I think the biggest impact that this class had on me was that it created the foundation to teach my future students reading and made me more eager and excited to do so. I want to thank you for being so patient and kind with us and being there if we needed anything. You have the best teacher this semester hands down!

-Arianna Sicilia

I learned so much valuable information in this class. One piece of knowledge that I learned in this class was how important reading comprehension is. Reading comprehension involves the reader, text, one's purpose for reading, and the sociocultural context. Fluency also does not necessarily mean how fast someone is reading. As Jake the Dog mentions in this GIF, he read the same paragraph over and over for eleven minutes probably so he can fully comprehend what he is reading.

-Kavita Elana

Lesson planning is a vital part of teaching. This semester we all made two lesson plans pertaining to Eric Carle books. Making sure we followed edTPA guidelines as well as is important. I had fun dipping my feet into the water of lesson planning. Taking baby steps in this class was helpful and a resource I can rely on in the future!

I learned a lot about how lesson planning actually goes. I never realized how it's all set up and written out to every specific thing that could go down in the classroom before and it's such an important part in the whole education process that I was thrown into a loop with how exactly it's planned out. There's so many guidelines and rules to follow with it as well and I need to do it correctly in this specific way or else I'm doing it wrong and I thought that was really interesting!
-Adriana Gonzalez

A child's mind is so much bigger and complex than any of us truly realize and learning about how a child's reading comprehension develops was really interesting to me. There's a plan that teachers can refer to to see the progress in learning to read and write that the kids can bunce all over on and I never even knew that was a thing. Their imagination is at their peak and once they can visualize and make up what the word means in their head, they can connect the dots and slowly imitate how the word is spelled. It's crazy to see them be so small and so full of energy for them to have the time and patience to learn something I'm used to having since forever. Kids are incredibly smart.

-Adriana Gonzalez
