1940s - The CNC is completed

In 1939, the CNC was completed by Bell Telephone Laboratories, designed by George Stibitz. In 1940 the CNC was demonstrated at an American Mathematical Society at Dartmouth College, the group was stunned by Stibitz's performance.

1950s - Simon 1 relay logic machine plans are published

Edmund Berkeley's design for the Simon 1 relay computer published by Radio Electronics, cost $600. In "Giant Brains" Berkeley states “We shall now consider how we can design a very simple machine that will think.... Simon is so simple and so small in fact that it could be built to fill up less space than a grocery-store box; about four cubic feet.”

1960-Japan's NEAC

Japan's NEAC includes a CPU, console, paper tape reader and punch, printer, and magnetic tape units. the NEAC was exclusively sold in Japan. Only around 30 NEACs were sold the last NEAC was withdrawn in 1979.

1970- Personal Computer Kenbak-1

1980 - The Commodore 64 is introduced

1990 - Apple's first Newton
