To-day was a music day. We learnt with Edgar Férus a famous musician and storyteller how to play gwoka , a guadeloupean drum .We were very concentrated and we could all experience the positive effects of rythm and vibrations on our minds. We played alltogether and it created a real cohesion and deep communication. Less stress and ours hearts gave us the right tempo.. We felt once more more relaxed and sharing the same feeling of joy, peace and strength. We had before yoga with Rita and after that a delicious local lunch in a small restaurant..

Aujourd'hui j'ai appris l'histoire des grands fonds , j'ai également appris à jouer du gwo ka , les 7 rythmes de base. J'ai vraiment apprécié que l'on joue tous ensemble.

Aujourd’hui était, une journée de sensation, de remémoration de la culture Senegalaise pour moi.
Même si j’utilisais de temps en temps le « djemé » je ne connaissais pas qu’ils existaient sept rythmes.
J’ai été aussi ravi de rencontrer mon coup de coeur le petit Yohann.

Along the way I imagined... the adventure of sound, rhythm and encounters that are always so rainbow-like!

I learnt to work with rhythm, I experienced the harmony of sounds and individuals. Then the sharing of the meal and the discovery of the lambi... i love !

Aujourd'hui une journée au rythme des Gwo Ka pour vibrer en cohésion avec le charismatique conteur des grands fonds de Saint Anne, Edgard Ferus.

Today, I discovered the typical Guadeloupean drum called Gowka with Edgard Férus, musician and storyteller. I learnt what a ka is made of and how to play low and high notes.

Then we trained to play the 7 basic rhythms all together. While playing, Edgard told us about Grands Fonds history and how ka music helped the men work in the fields giving them rhythm and strenght and how it is still popular today. Drums are the beating heart of music and convey deep emotions. They improve coordination and concentration and they lower stress. Playing Ka filled me with good vibrations coming from my ka and from the others. We finished this workshop tasting delicious Guadeloupean dishes.

Une journée sous le signe de l'écoute et de l'apprentissage avec un conteur qui a le sens du partage. Une belle leçon de vie.

Aujourd'hui j'ai beaucoup appris au côté d'Edgar Férus.

J'ai appris la complexité de la magnifique et tragique histoire des grands fonds.

J'ai aussi appris les 7 rythmes du Gwo Ka et les origines de cet instrument.

Je suis aussi très reconnaissant d'avoir pu m'imprégner de cette musique exceptionnelle.

J'ai été aussi un témoin privilégié de la facilité de transmission musicale d'Edgar grâce à son aisance et sa passion que ce soit aux enfants comme aux adultes.

Je retournerai "dans fond là" 😉 sans hésitation pour me réimpregner de tout cela!
