This book covers the story of John, a boy who has Asperger's. This book is very beneficial to educators, because it provides a firsthand account of Asperger's. John addresses common challenges those on the spectrum face. Statistics now show that 1 in every 68 children are on the spectrum. For educators, that’s a high percentage that some of their students could have Asperger's. It is important to be aware of these things, because as teachers our job is to help each student reach his or her potential regardless of any disability. Being aware of Asperger's can help the teacher give the student the teaching and understanding they need.

Difficulty understanding facial expressions.
3. The ideology of being inside his own "Asperger's world".
4. Each person with Asperger's has one certain ability that makes them stand out, John's was the ability to work on electronics.
5. People with Asperger's often relate better to objects or animals better than people, John related to his machines.
7. The difficult working with people in a job setting, John went through many jobs until he opened up his own business.
8.

I really enjoyed reading this book, I was able to connect to someone with the same struggles that I have. I have Asperger's just like John did. While reading the book I often said "that's me". I believe this will help me be a better educator. Although I myself have Asperger's every person on the spectrum is different. I got diagnosed at 13, while John got diagnosed at 40. I believe this book is a great resource for anyone, it shows us that regardless of any disability we can succeed to our full potential.
