HOW EXCOMUNICATION IS USED IN SOCIAL STUDIES

Excommunication is used in social through the studies of many reformers like Martin Luther, who was excommunicated for his list of theses for indulgences. It is also been used for Savonarola who gained political power in Florence for a few years but was excommunicated for his teachings against the pope. Excommunication is significant to show what the church allowed in the time of the Renaissance. Also if the excommunicated were actual were wrong or, the church just didn't want to lose power. It provides us more information by the actions of the church in the renaissance. Lastly, it displays how new ideas were analyzed during that time. Some textual evidence of the vocabulary word is on Pg. 92- ¨Savonarola´s continuous ranting against the pope and the Church in Rome, and his call for the establishment of a separate council to oppose the pope led to his excommunication, that is, official exclusion from the church.¨ That is how excommunication is used in social studies this year.
