The police was run like the military, police officers took it out on African Americans because of the racial prejudice. In order to protect themselves from this, many African Americans started to form gangs. The police and justice system created gangs, it targeted African Americans, caused violent outbreaks and protest from them, which eventually leaded to gangs. Police squashed peaceful orginizations. Gangs were formed by minorities (african americans) that were not being protected by the police, therefore being left to protest themselves. If the justice system wasn't unfair and never had prejudice towards african americas, then the gangs would have never started.

Gangs are acting out against a lot of people, and if they saw law enforcement trying to stop them I think it would just fuel them to do anything but stop. I think in the future for gangs to be lessened than what they are today they should try to better living conditions and poverty in Southern LA because that factor alone causes many issues. Spouses and women involved can try to pull men out of the lifestyle but again, this is all these people know since some of them have been involved in this their whole lives and know nothing else. The pictures show that the black housing they created a long time ago are still there and are mostly still black areas. When a child's parental figure ends up in jail and then becomes absent from their lives, for the most part, it becomes difficult to break the cycle of producing violent gang members.
