I think the significance of the title, "Crips and Bloods: Made in American" is that America's long history of discrimination of people of color, especially of African Americans, lead to a creation of gangs. African Americans felt unsafe and unprotected by the law. Since they couldn't find protection in the police, they decided to start protecting themselves by forming gangs. The "Made in America" part of the title signifies how Americans treatment of minority groups has allowed for gangs to form.

The police created and enforced invisible barriers or walls that forced African American people, specially young African American men to stay within their neighborhoods, which were less wealthy than many other areas. These people were stopped, pulled over, and questioned nearly every time they attempted to go to other areas. This racism and racial profiling created a very angry and eventually hostile environment because these prominently African American communities were being treated extremely unfairly.

The amount of racial prejudice and unfair treatment that the justice system served African Americans caused them to create gangs in order to protect themselves against the police who were against them and taking out their racist beliefs onto them.

The title of the movie is meant to show how America is the main reason for these major gangs existence. The reason that these gangs existed in the first place was mainly because groups of African Americans felt unsafe and unprotected by the police force that was supposed to help them, causing them to band together. As the police continued to show their dislike and clear prejudice towards these people, they began to revolt and led to the eventual warfare and conflict between other gangs and group. The point is that America is the reason for the gangs to form in the first place and as time went it they continued to only get more violent, demonstrating that these gangs were truly "made in america".

The fighting between these two gangs had been going on for so long and became so major and widespread throughout the area that it was seen as a bigger issue. The government did not see it as a civil issue because they saw it as something that affected every citizen, nationwide, and treated it that way. They quickly went to extremes in order to defend the other "innocent" citizens that could be affected by this rivalry, not treating the situation as a civil issue in any way.

Many young children in these less fortunate neighborhoods were raised in dysfunctional and often abusive households. They were brought up around drugs and criminal activity, which caused a lack of a more positive perspective and way of doing things. Committing crimes such as doing and selling drugs were never seen as a negative or off-limits thing, which resulted in a major increase in drug related crimes as well as murder. Also, the lack of a positive parent or authority figure and a good influence caused young men to act out violently, and committing crimes became a display of manhood and masculinity.

It would be hard for law enforcement to end the gang violence and gangs occurring in South LA. Gangs are acting out against a lot of people, and if they saw law enforcement trying to stop them I think it would just fuel them to do anything but stop. I think in the future for gangs to be lessened than what they are today they should try to better living conditions and poverty in Southern LA because that factor alone causes many issues. Spouses and women involved can try to pull men out of the lifestyle but again, this is all these people know since some of them have been involved in this their whole lives and know nothing else. People living in LA should try to better living conditions happening in poor parts of the city to help prevent gangs from forming in the future.

Because of the number of gang members that end up in prison for long periods of time, it affects not just the people in jail, but their families. When a child's parental figure ends up in jail and then becomes absent from their lives, for the most part, it becomes difficult to break the cycle of producing violent gang members. These children will automatically turn to the first option there for them when their parents are absent, which in this area, is some type of gang. This causes them to not be raised correctly and ultimately continues to increase the number of gangs and gang members across the state.

I believe that the government does not have as much control to put an end to the violence seen in South Los Angeles. Because if they did do something about it, it would not end the way they wanted but the upbringing of more crimes seen because they won't agree on it so they will go against it. I think to stop this, the members themselves have to realize that what they are doing is not right. The mothers and wives of the members can urge them to stop what they are doing before something bad happens to them. But as we know it, they arent going to stop because it is not such an easy task to do and just because one person stop does not mean the rest do so it will continue.
