Particularly with the confusion of the word formative which was used instead of summative.

Holistic is the idea that the whole of something is made up of parts. This can be applied to assessment, where different learning objectives are related and complex. Holistic assessment means to assess several aspects at the same time. During an EPA, assessment will need to be made against a number of criteria.

The main benefit of using holistic assessment is that several factors can be assessed at one time, allowing a complete evaluation of the learner to be made. This is particularly important for EPAs, as the assessment takes place over a short period of time (one day). It is vital that the learner is given the opportunity to demonstrate all the skills needed to meet the standard criteria. For example, during the observation, the learner will be displaying multiple different skills that are required for their particular type of work. It is also useful as learner’s will all have different job roles, so the types of skills may differ slightly and will be demonstrated in different ways.

IQA stands for internal quality assurance. The role of an internal quality assurer is to monitor the teaching, learning and assessment activities which the learners are undertaking. They may do this by observing assessors with learners, or looking over assessment records/decisions and the learner’s work. The IQA will then make a judgement as to whether the assessor has completed the assessment in a satisfactory way and made fair decisions. This way they can provide feedback to the assessors, and suggest any changes that may need to be made. The IQA will evaluate the whole assessment process to ensure a high and consistent standard is being met by all assessors.

Take a look at this and consider how you could apply this to your own practice.
Your feedback in the medal and mission activity is a mixture of narrative and feedback. Try to use this in your practice to develop this skill further.
You have described your strengths and areas for development to plan questions to enable holistic assessment and reduce leading learners. How do you plan to follow these up?

Congratulations Rachel on completing the knowledge module.
