Our project focuses on solving problems related to water access and efficient water use, specifically under SDG 6.1, which aims for universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water. We’re addressing critical challenges that impact both communities and the environment.

Empathize

We engaged with communities to understand their struggles. The main problems we identified were the lack of clean water in rural areas and poor water management practices. These insights helped us shape our approach.

Define

The problem is clear: many people, especially in rural areas, don’t have access to safe drinking water, and water resources are often wasted due to inefficient use.

Brainstorm

We brainstormed solutions like solar-powered portable water filters and smart irrigation systems. After evaluating which solution would have the biggest impact, we chose to focus on the solar-powered water filtration device.

Prototype

Our solution is a solar-powered portable water filtration device. It provides clean drinking water to rural areas using renewable energy. This aligns with other SDGs:

• SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy): Promotes clean energy use through solar power.

• SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Helps reduce waterborne diseases by providing safe drinking water.

• SDG 13 (Climate Action): Supports environmental sustainability by reducing the need for fossil-fuel-based systems.

This solution is practical, sustainable, and addresses multiple global challenges at once.
