Decrease in private housing sales

According to tradingeconomies.com, Singapore's prices for consumer goods increased 1.4% in May 2017. As the prices increase, the real income of consumers decrease as they are able to buy lesser items with the same amount of income. Furthermore, private housing is a luxury good, making it price elastic. According to the law of demand, the price of a good is inversely proportional to the demand of the good. As a result, due to a fall in the real income of consumers, the demand for private housing will decrease, as seen in the article, where demand for private housing decreased by 34% from April to May.
