When I give students feedback verbally I ask them to write it down straight away. I avoid almost all traditional marking like the plague until A-Level. The time taken v. impact is nowhere near worth it in my exp. To make more efficient I use the 'check up' or 'unit test' from textbook. which students then mark to be able to identify knowledge gaps (use this to steer me, then look back in book to validate).
