1. The needfornature.org website is up and business cards printed.  I'm populating it now.  Announcements are very current topics. The Calendar tracks informational webinars/speakers/events to learn more about Sustainable Development.  I've started with the environment as there is just a whole lot of community concern about our environment and it's been quite easy to meet people and orgs and find out what they're doing.  I'm working on Data Resources and Hot Topics now.  Eventually I'll have a 'How To' icon that provides guidance on effective actions.
   

2. Sustainable Development supports development that balances environmental, economic, and social well-being.  It is a well known planning concept and I am researching other communities as well as papers that translate the concept into regulatory language and provide data regarding the benefits.
   

3. Economic and social well-being are next in my research and I need help.  I've heard Knox County has some severe budget constraints pending.  I know there are many studies promoting the mental health and social benefit of green space.  
   And there the ecological and hydrological benefits in environmental protection.

   
   

4. The TN Legislature is in session with many, many bills.  A follow up email will highlight the good, the bad, and the always nefarious caption bills where the actual proposal is still uncertain.  I thank the Tennessee Chapter of the American Planning Association and the Sierra Club who are tracking and sharing this information.
