Hello, my name is Zap, David Garnham and the reasons to live’s song. “This town”, which immediately piqued my interest due to my background in music. I noticed immediately when listening the tone of the singer staying consistent during the whole song having an ostinato. Furthermore this song has a simple Dynamic range having a mezzo piano meaning mildly soft. “This towns” has two melodies in the same key, both being simple, having no harmonies to back up the main melody. Furthermore the lyrics tell a personal story with the lack of supporting instruments apart from the guitar and voice help with the personal feeling that Garnham is telling. The songs lyrics are about a girl the singer broke the heart of a woman and describing things in the NT which call back to his origin coming from the NT Australia. Looking at online sources this song had barely any information or articles about it online, even when searching up the lyrics there nothing i could find apart from saying “This Town” was voted number 7 in the Territory sound countdown. Furthermore I wanted to search up David Garnham himself having no other articles written about him. After scouring the internet all i could find about him was the bands facebook, which only gave information about their shows.

Reference

https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thesoundcafe.com%2Fpost%2Fdavid-garnham-the-reasons-to-live-look-like-truckers-but-sing-like-angels%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR7krRdpMQWsJ4smbxRIIwPWzbNjP6yfGrKscbrk6kbCI4PlSuEG4g14Biz9fA_aem_zozf6yEsyxcUdSLk1H4dZw&h=AT0WBO8c1bW-as58ngz1KFuh_d2aSnmDzZSuMNfWpd3cwYp1oxbsEtYfDQjfkQH9sRu5JdCLr_fz0DT-37Z_ODpNvNDr9Eana0fEljcOUanqSTDzrxqZXSqqMcHDP227Yuo5HEDMLw5izTg&s=1

https://youtu.be/xNZpsnRKBEQ?si=xqUCvdBMdmO-XPDo
