prediction: i reckon ted talks are usually really good and easy to listen to despite some of the episodes being analyses of difficulties topics. i just found this specific title interesting and thought it could be cool.

summary: describing how important friendship are and how important they have always been since the very beginning of the civilisation - what i liked was a mention of how ancient romans used to talk about their friends as ‘half of their soul’, which is now used in romantic relationships. the narrator talks about how crucial is to have someone by our side to reach out to and that it doesn’t have to be a partner or spouse, but a best friend also.

rating: ★★★☆☆

https://youtu.be/wRa3sycERxA?si=idXjWgIfiO1WCuhx

Prediction:

I am choosing the latest episode „Stop Stressing About Stress“. By the name of the episode, I think that there will be a discussion on the topic of the epicentre of stress and how to handle stressfull situations. Just „get to know“ our stress.

Recommendation?

The idea of this podcast is focused on mental health. It just helps you to understand why are you the way you are. The woman who presents the podcast tells you some tips about the topic. She also invites a psychologist, whose expertise is the topic of discussion.

For me, I wanted to find this type of podcast. So I really recommend this one.

New words:

blissful-báječný

evaluate-posoudit

Rating:

I would give it like 4,5 stars out of 5.

This podcast is about how our society often doesn’t know how much water is ideal for us. I found out that the fact that we should drink at least 2 litres per day isn’t based on scientific study. Drinking 2 litres per day is however a great way to prevent dehydration and to stay healthy and energised, but the amount of water we should drink really depends on our size.

What I predicted?

A podcast that gives answers to simple questions that are important to us.

I chose this podcast because it really catches my attention at the beggining of this activity.

This podcast was exactly what I expected it to be, short and simple, but educative and full of interesting facts.

to arrive at… - to decide it by doing calculation

idea takes a grip on something - it takes a control of it

pretty much - almost

I would definitely recommend this podcast to everyone. It was interesting and not much scientific. I would rate this podcast with 5 stars.

Its mainly nature related and they analyzed some good things which happened in our ecosystem and why are they good. It focuses on direct message with just basic explanations. Mine podcast was about problems with invasive green crab in California and his decrease thanks to sea otters which are eating this spieces. I have learn words sea otter, oister, invasiv.
6 MINUTE ENGLISH ( episode: WHAT DECIDES OUR TASTE?)

I was predicting that the podcast would be about how our taste works and the reasons why everybody have different taste. The podcast was about the things that i thought it would be. They were talking about how scientists have discovered that taste is influenced by our genes and DNA. That’s why everybody have different taste. They also said that what tastes sweet to me, might taste sour or salty to someone else and that really got me thinking. We shouldn’t judge someone by their taste, because taste isn't a matter of opinion. I also learned some new vocabulary such as chastise (strongly punish or criticise), broaden your horizons (investigate something in a new way in order to increase the range of your knowledge, understanding or experience) and I would say that, wouldn't I? (used to imply there's some reason that what the speaker is saying is obviously biased towards them). I would definitely recommend this podcast to my classmates, because it’s short and very informative. Personally i would give it 5 stars. They have a lot of episodes with different themes and in the caption is written the transcript, week question and vocabulary.

Prediction: I would expect a short episode, with each one focusing on a different topic. I would guess that there are various topics to choose from.

Summary: The podcast discusses tracing family history through family trees and DNA ancestry tests. While traditional methods use historical records, DNA testing has become a popular alternative, though its accuracy is sometimes questioned. The podcast highlights how different companies may produce varying DNA ancestry results due to differences in their databases.

New words: forebears, cellular, broadly

Recommendation: I would recommend it because each episode is only six minutes long, and there is a wide range of topics to choose from. However, I expected to hear more facts about the chosen topic.

Rating: 4 out of 5

The podcast really did not differ from what i have expected. Some new words which i have learned are for example: undermine, mitigate, tutor. I would recommend this video to people who want to learn about new ways to study with AI.
