         <description><![CDATA[<div>Alexander Simplot born January 5 in Dubuque Iowa,I lived with a very wealthy family five siblings.My father was a wealthy french merchant he specialized in buying grain and selling grain he sat on Board of Aldermen under the city's first mayor. My farther died in 1846 and my family was able to stay in the upper class of the city.</div>]]></description>

I recall that I had eaten in the home of a confederate and dined with the rebel officers whom were dressed in civilian clothing. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Alexander Simplot died on October 21 1914 at the age of 77,he was buried in the civil war section of Dubuque's Linwood Center.In simplot's death he was the city's oldest native-born son,a distinction he acknoeldge.<br>His sketches are highly valued by historians and art collectors all around.</div>]]></description>
