Raquel Jaramillo also known as R.J. Palacio, is the author of children's realistic fiction novel "Wonder". The book was published on February 14, 2012. R.J. Palacio wrote the book off of an experience she had with her three-year-old son. Her son had noticed a girl with facial abnormalities. In attempt to move her son away from the situation so he wouldn`t get the girl upset, it winded up making the situation worse. After listening to Natalie Merchant's song "Wonder" it inspired her to write the book because she thought it was a valuable lesson for society.

The realistic fiction book "Wonder" written by R.J. Palacio, takes place in a first person point of view although, there are many different characters. For example on page (1) it says, August part One, while on page (81) it says, Via part two. I really liked reading from a first person point of view because it gave you insight about how the characters feel and it explains their actions toward August. The first person point of view of many people also, helped me understand August’s effect on many people. I feel that the story would not be as good if August was the only narrator. In conclusion that is why I think "Wonder” being written with many narrators is great.

I know this because in the text it says, "I love it when I’m the one who makes dad laugh, since he’s usually the funny man that gets everyone laughing" (292). Another example, in the text is, "Dad always made everyone laugh" (13). My final example is, Nate threw out August's helmet out because, it was hiding his identity. In conclusion that is the additional character of "Wonder".

The theme in the realistic fiction book “Wonder” written by R.J. Palacio is, your nothing without family. This means to be there for the ones you love during the good times and bad times. This relates to the book “Wonder” because without August’s family he wouldn’t get moral support or who be their when he is down. For example, August’s mom was there to foster him after a rough first day at school. Another example is, when Daisy died they all were there for each other. For example, in the text it says, "We all sat down in the living room around Daisy's toys" (224). In conclusion that is one theme of “Wonder”.

In the realistic fiction novel "Wonder written by R.J. Palacio, there are many themes. My second theme for “Wonder” is a tolerance for difference. This means when there is a different situation to learn how to adapt to it. Jack and Summer had to adapt to August’s face. For example, in the text it says, "I do admit August's face takes some getting used to" (120). In conclusion that is my second theme for “Wonder”.

At the end of the realistic fiction novel "Wonder" written by R.J. Palacio, August wins the Henry Beecher Prep medal and walks home with his family and friends. For example, in the text it says, "So will August Pullman come up here to receive this award" (304). I thought the ending was swell. I think the ending would have been better with a sappy ending. If I were to add more to the story "Wonder" would end with August and his family going to Montauk to see gran's grave. That is what I think about "Wonder’s” ending and how I would have ended it.

"Wonder" was a great book written by R.J. Palacio. The genre is realistic fiction. If I were to rate the book I would give it 4.5 stars. It was a superb book but I would have liked clarification on some things. The book is about a boy named August who has facial abnormalities, and the challenges he faces every day. The book is also about family and how he affects the people around him. The age group for this book is from 9 to 12 years old. "Wonder" was a great book and was rich with emotion. Some of R.J. Palacio's strengths are conflicts. She finds a way to make the conflicts interesting and not repetitive. For example, one conflict in the text is, "What is that? said the kid who was pointing the flashlight at us, and it was then that I realized that the flashlight was pointed at my face, and what they were talking about-screaming about my face" (265). My favorite part of the book was when Jack punched Julian in the face. I liked this part because it was very courage’s of Jack. In conclusion that is the rating I give "Wonder".

I think "Wonder" written by R.J. Palacio is a gratifying title for the realistic fiction book. I think this because it lets society know what it must be like with facial abnormalities. The title "Wonder" relates to the book because some characters in "Wonder," wonder what it’s like to have Auggie's face or how he got it. If I were to pick another name for "Wonder," it would be perspectives because, people see him in different ways. That is why I liked the title and how the title relates to the book.

The realistic fiction book "Wonder" written by R.J. Palacio takes place in North River Heights Manhattan at Augusts home and Beecher Prep school. I believe the most important setting is, Beecher Prep. I believe this is the most important setting because, this is where most of the conflicts happen. For example in the text it says, "...And that's when I punched him, right in the mouth" (154). Other examples are the August touch is started and the bleeding scream incident takes place. The school environment is very problematic as you can see. The environment at home is a lot calmer than at school. In conclusion that is the setting of "Wonder".
