In this part of the story, Puck sees Lysander sleeping seperately from Hermia and assumes that it's because he hates her and is doing it just to spite her, when in reality it was actually her idea to sleep separately in the first place. After seeing this, he decides to take matters into his own hands and punish Lysander for being rude by using magic on him. This shows that Puck is presumptuous because he makes a decision with significant consequences without knowing the whole story.
