This proverb means that a person who's achievements in life has been gifted to them by luck can not forget to be humble and remember that they too have faults. Every person should remember what their status is and who they truly are.

1. Okonkwo overcame poverty by hardwork and determination.
- Although he had no help from a specific person, his chi or personal god was good.

2. Okonkwo has a hard time being humble and having compassion for others.
- Okonkwo was once a man without titles also and should have more sympathy for others
3. Shows Okonkwo's character which is one of his biggest weaknesses. Okonkwo works his hardest to be the opposite of who his father was. He prides how successful he is compared to his father. We connect and have empathy for Okonkwo because we see his background and what caused him to become who he is, but he fails to be humble and understand his father who might've had similar problems that caused him to be lazy and the way he was.

This connects to our real world because many times people today forget that success isn't guaranteed even with hardwork and dedication. A lot of times today people with a lot of money tend to brag about their fortunes and use it against people with less - forgetting that if it wasn't for their good fortune they could possibly be the same way too. Instead of bragging about what we have, we should be thankful, have compassion and give back to the less fortunate.

I agree with how you interpreted this proverb and the text evidence you used really shows that the proverb is present in the text. The evidence where Okonkwo calls a man a women works really well because it shows how Okonkwo is not at all humble.

I think that part of the reason they tell Okonkwo to be humble is because even if you are very well off in life, it can always come crashing down like it did for Okonkwo when he was exiled. At that point he was lesser than the people he had belittled believing himself better than them
