Ten voted “yes” and eleven voted “no”. The ten senators who voted “yes” resigned after what happened.

This was the reason that triggered the Filipino people to go to EDSA and protest. There were students, activists, and music personalities. Even the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines withdrew their support from the administration of former president Estrada.

The Filipino people peacefully overthrew the government of Joseph Estrada.
