LGTB communities in India have suffered through the years and still do. Some reasons for this is that the government and most people in India despite LGTB because they don’t approve LGTB. That leads to people hurting LGTB people for just identifying as LGTB. Also, they can get kicked out of their home and villages for just being different and being interested in the same sex. Something else that happens is that they can get arrested for no reason but being LGTB. Another awful thing that happens is that they get beat from strangers if they see them with the same sex doing anything that might indicate that they are LGTB. The government as also banded marrying the same sex and that can cause a problem for people who are LGTB and if they want to get married. Another thing the government does is that they make them lose their jobs if they find out they’re LGTB.

B. How has the problem affected the community directly?

LGBT people in are scared to live and tell anyone that they are LGTB. They feel like they are treated for being different. It doesn’t take being beaten up to get hurt. Worlds hurt too. Also making things worse they can lose everything like their job and their own family. By just not wanting to marry the same sex.The family you love and that you thought cared about you can shun you and act like you mean nothing to them. That can really hurt people who can’t help but be LGTB. It doesn’t end there people can be rude to them like intimidate, blackmail, and go to prison. For no reason, if I’m being honest the LGTB community is affected still to this day.

C. Why should the rest of the world be concerned about this issue?

Being mistreated for being LGTB is a world wide thing. Some places in the world have it worse. Like in India. Compared to America it’s so bad there. In America it’s more open to LGTB now. Unlike India you can die for coming out. In India they get treated so poorly like they’re not even humans. Just in Russia they get treated the same way. They get treat like animals. They get beaten and you can lose your jobs because their government doesn’t accept them. I feel like they should be more opened like America is. Sure people get called names and stuff. But compared to other places it’s nothing.

D. What is currently being done to address this problem?

LGTB community in India is still suffering. And no one is doing anything about it. The government doesn’t care about what happens to those people. The only thing that is being done are riots. Also protests are being done. No one is going to help them except their community. This is so disgusting that people don’t care about others because their different. So what we all deserve to live and be protected by our government. Just by being LGTB doesn’t make a good reason to turn backs on people. But oh well it still happens everywhere. And no one is going to do anything about. That’s the worst part, we need to be more open minded and it shouldn’t matter if we prefer different types of things or being different.

Dear diary

Today I was scared to go to school because if anyone finds out I like girls I will get beat. I’m worried that my family won’t love me anymore. I seen this happen to a lot of people on the street. I want to run away so I don’t have to hide what I am. The government here is so unfair. I wish I could go to America so people wouldn’t judge me. People in America are more accepting instead of here. I wonder if my parents or my brothers or sisters will find out I like this girl at school. She is pretty but she will hate me and never talk to me if she knew I liked her. Her and her friends are always talking about how they don’t like LGTB people. It hurts to know that but what should I expect. I feel so trapped in school. I don’t think anyone is like me there. But at least I can see the girl that I like.
