These two projects where the last bowls I threw on the wheel and they taught me how to make some rounder shapes on the wheel, I have yet to learn other shapes and curves.

The sgraffito project taught me the process of trial and error throughout the carving process, how lightly I should do it, inverted or regular, and how to make the lines smooth and sharp, it also taught me how to add last minute details to make the project full and complete.

In this piece I learned about the 3D process, I learned to make the flippers splay out in the air (Like they are in the photo) and to make the shape look like they do on seals.

This project was extra but it taught me about the different tools and glazing with different colors, for this one I used the heart stamps and glazed the base white with heart stamps and learned that the glaze wouldn't leak everywhere when it was fired, it overall stayed in the spot I originally put it in.

In the piece I learned how to do a pinch pot correctly, (I did some last year but they didn't quiet work) I also learned to add little designs on the side with glaze, I added little paws and the I heart U.

The Tiny House Piece taught me trail and error and innovation, When making the roof it was very complicated to make the template as it was not a real shape to plot out on paper so I kind of had to freeball it until it fit correctly.

The Tiny house project also taught me how to use tools to my advantages like I did with the roof, I used the back of the wooden tools to make shingles and I used the little grey plastic ones to make the plant holders.

I really enjoyed wheel throwing this semester, it was my favorite. But I also really enjoyed the Sgraffito carving because it was very very satisfying! Future student: I would really recommend using this class time to relax and wind down during they day, don't stress out about projects being perfect or finished on time, the course is very flexible and she will give you extra time as needed. Nothing is perfect and don't waste your time comparing your projects to others, as some people in ceramics are extremely talented and it really shows. And overall just do what makes you happy!
