         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Definition</strong><br>common connection point for devices in a network<br><strong>In what topolgy is used<br></strong>Hub is mainly used in a star topology, since each device in the network is connected to a central device called hub.<br><strong>Diference from switch<br></strong>1<strong>.</strong>  Network hub has <mark>no routing tables or intelligence</mark> on where to send information and it <mark>broadcasts all network data across each</mark> <mark>connection</mark>.<br>2. A hub works on the <mark>physical layer </mark>(Layer 1) of OSI model while Switch works on the <mark>data link layer</mark> (Layer 2). <br>3. Hub connects <mark>multiple Ethernet devices</mark> together as a single segment, while switch can join multiple computers within<mark> one LAN</mark>. A hub extends the network by providing <mark>more ports</mark>. While an Ethernet switch divides the network into smaller, <mark>less congested divisions</mark><br>3. <br><strong>How it can be used in business</strong><br>Hubs are generally easy to install and maintain, making these devices a good option for home networking businesses.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Definition<br></strong>A data link layer network hardware that uses the packet  switching to send messages among the network/network software<br><strong>In what topolgy is used<br></strong>As long as the switches have many ports, it facilitates the connection in a star (also extended star) topology (many computers may connect at the same time without the network collisions)<br><strong>Diference from hub</strong> <br>- When Hub sends the message to every computer connected to it, intelligent switch supports all unicast (one-to-one) multicast (one-to-many) and broadcast (one-to-all) communications<br>- Hub has 4/12 ports, switch owns 24/48 ports<br>- Hub operates at physical level of OSI model, switch is layer 2 network hardware<br><strong>How it can be used in business</strong> <br>It can be used to connect the local computers that are, for example, in one office, by connecting with Ethernet cables.
