Yo estoy contento por tu visita. Mi pueblo de Southern Pines en Carolina del Norte es muy bonita y tranquilo. Yo prefiero el tiempo aquí en primavera u otoño. Hay mucho que hacer en Southern Pines. A mucha gente les gusta jugar al golf. Hay torneos de los golf internacionales jugado aquí. Los torneos están en Southern Pines, Pinehurst, y Whispering Pines, un par de otras ciudades cerca.  A algunas personas les gusta montar a caballos. Muchos establos están aquí. 
Me gusta jugar al fútbol y explorar los bosques. Me gustan las cantinas y restaurantes también. Hay una gran variedad. Yo prefiero los restaurantes exóticos. Están en el centro. ¿Qué tipo de comida tú prefieres? 
Hay ciudades más grandes cerca, como Raleigh y Charlotte. Solamente una o dos horas en el coche. Los coches son la forma más fácil de viajar en el estado. 
¿Qué te gusta hacer para divertirte? ¿Qué te gusta hacer para relajarte? Este viaje puede tener un poco de ambos. ¡Vamos a planificar una buena visita!

Selena sings her heart out over a lover moving on. I like this song because I feel almost everyone can relate to the emotive qualities of the song -- the sadness of someone leaving, the hope of them coming back, and reflecting on the beautiful times shared. I enjoy this song because it can make me happy and sad (but not too sad) simultaneously, and that's good music!

Learning Spanish may help with field research during my career. I am interested in the environment and biodiversity loss caused by the current border wall. Knowing Spanish would help get first-hand accounts from those on both sides of the border. Moreover, with a growing Hispanic immigrant community in North Carolina, I will inevitably use the Spanish I have learned thus far regardless of my career choice.

I was skeptical at first with how cheesy the poster and synopsis sounded but I really enjoyed the film. It was a perfect mix of a underdog story, coming together story, love story, and even some religious story as well.
Essentially, a group of monks must come together to save their sanctuary. To do this they must learn soccer and win a tournament of clergy soccer teams at the Vatican.
This movie was similar in a few ways to Shaolin Soccer in terms of an underdog story, a coming together story etc. But this movie has heavy Christian overtones, specifically Catholicism, which is indeed a part of Hispanic and Spanish culture overall.
While being funny and heart-warming, it also showed skepticism towards the structure of the Catholic Church, which I liked very much. Monsignors and Cardinals were shown as only caring about money and their own egos instead of their religion and their followers. While the lower priest and monks were shown to be caring and genuine when it comes to their religious dedication and pursuits.
I loved this display of the duality of modern faith structures, especially Christian faith structures. It showed those were believers and in the religion to help others, as the teachings demonstrate. And it showed those who are in the religion to be atop power structures and subsequently take advantage of their followers for financial or egotistical gains.
The soundtrack was slapstick in nature but certainly matched the film appropriately. There was even a music video with the actors singing for the final credits with a catchy song with playbacks to the film.

Some vocabulary that stuck with me included:

Poco a poco - little by little (in context of changing ourselves for the better)

eso es otra cosa - that is another thing

Overall, I recommend anyone to watch this film, even if you don't believe in God or like playing soccer.
