I’ve realized that combining traditional tests with authentic assessments gives me a clearer view of what my students really know and can do. So, in my future teaching, I will not rely only on quizzes or written tests. I’ll also design projects, presentations, and performance tasks so that students can show how they really understand and apply the lesson in real-life situations. This way, I can better support different types of learners and make assessment more meaningful.

Mhyles C.Murcia

One key takeaways that i learn is the importance of the assessment. In my future teaching, I can apply the concepts of outcome assessment by making sure that every activity, lesson, and evaluation I design is aligned with the learning outcomes of my subject. Before starting a lesson, I will use diagnostic assessments such as pre-tests or short surveys to know my students’ prior knowledge and adjust my strategies to their needs. During the lesson, I will integrate formative assessments like quizzes, group work, and class discussions to check their progress and provide timely feedback. At the end of a unit or lesson, I will use summative assessments, such as performance tasks and written tests, to measure if the students truly mastered the competencies. By following these phases, I can promote mastery learning, ensure fairness in evaluation, and contribute to achieving the program goals and institutional vision. Most importantly, I will see assessment not only as a way to grade students, but as a tool to improve teaching and guide students toward meaningful learning.

One key takeaway I learned is that assessments must be linked with learning outcomes and teaching methods employed. In my capacity as a future Science teacher, I ought to apply formative assessments such as quizzes or lab exercises to facilitate learning, while summative assessments such as projects or lab reports, to evaluate their level of understanding. This can serve as the purpose of making sure that students are able to do more than just recall the concepts, but apply them in practical scenarios. This makes teaching more practical and relevant to the aims of science teaching.

I've learned the importance of helping students become independent of their own learning while also guiding them on the tasks that they need guidance for. I also learned that assessments should be planned and used properly to accurately evaluate students' progress. Collecting students' tasks and work are also important not just for recording but also to manage their progress and find more room for improvement while celebrating their achievements and growth. As a future math teacher, this will help me in guiding students by giving them more time to solve problems when they needed more, evaluating whether students are ready and capable of answering complex problems or need more examples, and encouraging them to collect and keep their solutions for them to review and use as a reference for solving problems in the future, and checking the areas they need to improve on themselves.

Assessment is not just about giving grades but also about checking their progress while giving each student a chance to showcase themselves.
