There are people who spend time putting on makeup to hide even the smallest inconsistencies they have. Some people go to the gym to get muscles so that people deem them more 'physically attractive.' The over complicated stigma in relation to appearance can be connected to objectifying people, taking away human characteristics from people if they don't look good, or making people seem more important if they 'look perfect.' This is an issue as it can put more pressure on people to fit in with societal 'norms' in relation to the way people look.

This objectification means that women feel unsafe to walk alone and are taught to defend ourselves but this is making it the victims problem, it's not the victim's fault that someone followed them around and/or sexually assaulted them. It's not on them to learn how to punch because some idiot cant keep their hands to themselves. But this does not mean that we should not learn because if we don't it puts us in a vulnerable position. We need to stop asking the victim what they were wearing, how late they were and if they were alone.
