In the chaos that followed Germany's defeat in WWI which included the Great Depression, 40% of the population was out of work, in an attempt to create more money to pay the reparations of the Versailles Treaty, the government printed too much money which resulted in the collapse of the German economy. These "enemies" were the Jews, whom Hitler believed were the cause of all Germany's problems.  The Germans were not only persuaded by Hitler's charismatic speeches, but also by items given to them. When Jews were taken from their jobs and homes, other non-Jewish Germans could take these open spots. How could they argue? They were given everything they had wanted and more. New jobs meant people were able to provide for their families, and new homes gave those families a roof over their heads. To anyone that sounds like a good deal.w
