Like most global brands Nike has separate Facebook pages for each of its product categories. This includes golf, snowboarding and FuelBand, as well as two football pages – one for the american version of the sport and one for the version everyone else in the world plays.

Most of the dedicated sports pages are updated on a daily basis with videos or images, while the corporate page is updated about once a week.

The social teams have a huge number of athletes whom they can create and share content with. Hence, the global football page displays a huge amount of content featuring top players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta, as well as a lot of product-related posts.

This use of Facebook by Nike proves to be helpful in terms of marketing as it has been observed that product-related content get more interactions than posts featuring players. For example, one photo gallery of new boots attracted more than 35,000 ‘likes’ and almost 1,000 comments.

Similarly, the American football page is updated several times per week with a focus on athletes and products.

Nike is well known for running major branding campaigns, so its Facebook pages don’t feature the smaller competitions and sales promotions that we’re used to seeing from consumer brands.

Instead it uses its social channels to cross-promote larger marketing campaigns, such as the #MyTimeIsNow initiative that it ran in 2012 during the European Championships.

In 2013, Nike used the hashtag #MakeItCount as a way of encouraging sports teams to train together using its Nike+ products.

The company has reached critical mass in terms of advertising so its challenge at this point is keeping customers loyal so they're not swayed by competitors with similar offerings.
The Starbucks social media team is great at offering the customer service of local coffee shop on a grand scale over its social media channels. Even though they're a huge company, they still give customers individual attention, which no doubt goes a long way toward keeping them coming back for more.
Consistent branding is key. No matter what Starbucks social platform you visit, the Starbucks touch is evident. The company's social channels all have the same look, feel, and tone as their stores. Although the marketing team takes a slightly approach from Twitter to Instagram to Facebook, the content is consistently unified around the company's mission, message, and goals.

As with every other aspect of the company, their attention to detail and customer-centric messaging is what makes their social outreach some of the best in the business.

Uber is a convenient, inexpensive and safe taxi service. It is a well-known transport service in Singapore and many other countries worldwide with a networth value of roughly $70 billion.

Their main social networking site is Facebook. They use their individualed geographical pages to allow people to post what they enjoy or dislike about the organisation. This is where their public relations team comes in. As soon as someone posts on their social media, within minutes there will be a comment saying that the problem will be taken care of. The post is then forwarded to their customer service department, and the rest is handled via email and the specific customer.

Uber maintains engagement in their customers through deals and promotions, which are only possible because of the strong connection between customer service, public relations, and marketing. These show how the customer can get free rides and deals due to the simple fact that they are part of the Uber online community.
