Music helps Alex to express his emotions.

Sol was a good musician when he was younger, he used to play in a jazz band too.

Sol wants Alex to love music as much as he does, because it helped him a lot.

Music helps Sol to find comfort, happiness and express his feelings.

The music between them helps build that beautiful friendship, because they really started to talk when they noticed the both play/ed in a jazz band.

Music helps both to cope with hard times. It helps Sol to cope with the end of his life and it helps Alex with his parents getting divorced and his accidents.

-> Therefore we can conclude that music used to play a very important role in Sol's life because he spent a lot of time playing guitar but he tried to remove music from his life after his wife's tragedy. When Alex came to him he reminded him of its importance.

Music for Alex

• Alex plays on his guitar after coming back home after the accident to distract him from thefact that he isnt allowed to leave the house: " [...] so I spent hours I the basement noodling around on my electric guitar. It's the best thing I own, [...]" (p. 16 ll. 9)

• He accepted the bribe (the tele) from his dad and was very happy with that decision: " [...] plugged the television in, and played nonstop." (p. 16 l. 18)

• He expresses his emotions with it: " [...] because jazz is the hardest guitar music on the planet, but I could ROCK. So there I was, raging along [...] with my little Amp cranked,[...]" (p. 17 ll. 2)
