         <description><![CDATA[<div>Wednesday, February 5<br><br></div><div>Reading:<br><br></div><div>·       If you haven’t finished reading <em>A Wrinkle In Time </em>and filling out the worksheets, make sure you finish it before we get back to school!</div><div>·       Read a book of your choice for one hour</div><div>o   Write down when you start reading and when you finish reading (it doesn’t have to be all at once)</div><div>o   In your notebook, write a paragraph in which you make a prediction about what will happen.  What evidence from the book makes you think this will happen?</div><div>·       Make a 3-circle Venn diagram comparing fantasy, science fiction, and realistic fiction.</div><div>o   Each space must have at least one thing.</div><div>o   You may make your own in your notebook or print the Word document I am attaching (Venn Diagram) and fill it out.<br><br></div><div>Writing:<br><br></div><div>·       This week, based on what we’ve learned, we will begin writing new stories.  </div><div>o   YOUR STORY MUST BE FANTASY OR SCIENCE FICTION!</div><div>o   It must include dialogue, detailed descriptions (5 senses), and plot structure (rising action, climax, resolution).</div><div>·       TODAY: Start brainstorming!  Use a full page of your notebook to write down ideas you have for stories.  You do NOT need to begin writing it today!  Just brainstorm ideas!<br><br></div><div>Math:<br><br></div><div>·       Watch GoMath 10.1 and follow along using the Math Big Book .pdf I sent in the WeChat group</div><div>·       Complete pages 407-408 in the Math Big Book .pdf</div><div>o   Note: If you can’t print, then do the work NEATLY on your own paper!</div><div>o   Remember to show your work!<br><br></div><div>Cultural Studies:<br><br></div><div>·       We will be learning about European explorers!  There will be a test over this at the end, so make sure you are paying attention!</div><div>·       TODAY, read pages 503, 508, and 509 from the Cultural Studies .pdf file and fill in the blanks in TSW 2 numbers 1-7 on page 2 of the Cultural Studies SU4 Study Guide (Word doc).  If you cannot print, then write the answers in your own notebook.  If you come across any vocabulary words (page 1 of Study Guide) then fill them in!</div><div>·       Watch today’s CNN10 by going to <a href="http://www.cnn10.com">www.cnn10.com</a>, or searching this on YouTube: CNN10 February 5, 2020</div><div>o   Write a paragraph in your notebook about one thing you found very interesting from today’s CNN10.  Summarize it and tell why you found it interesting.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Thursday, February 6, 2020<br><br></div><div>Reading:<br><br></div><div>·       Read a book of your choice for one hour</div><div>o   Write down when you start reading and when you finish reading (it doesn’t have to be all at once)</div><div>o   In your notebook, write a paragraph in which you describe one of the characters from the book in detail.  What do they look like?  What is their personality like?  What is their big motivation in the book?<br><br></div><div> <br><br></div><div>Writing:<br><br></div><div>·       Using your brainstorming notes, write an outline for your fantasy or science fiction story.  Divide the story into three sections: Rising Action, Climax, Resolution.</div><div>o   Remember, the rising action should build tension (make the reader nervous about what will happen), the climax should relieve that tension (the big event), and the resolution should say how everything works out in the end.<br><br></div><div> <br><br></div><div>Math:<br><br></div><div>·       Complete the small book exercise for 10.1 (P201-P202)<br><br></div><div> <br><br></div><div>Cultural Studies:<br><br></div><div>·       In your Cultural Studies Study Guide, conduct internet research to complete the section labeled TSW 1 (pages 2 and 3 of study guide), numbers 8, 9, and 10.</div><div>o   Some information can be found on pages 508 and 509 of the PDF of the textbook that I sent yesterday.</div><div>o   I also recommend <a href="https://kids.kiddle.co/Compass">https://kids.kiddle.co/Compass</a>, <a href="https://kids.kiddle.co/Astrolabe">https://kids.kiddle.co/Astrolabe</a>, <a href="http://www2.needham.k12.ma.us/eliot/technology/lessons/explorers/tools.htm">http://www2.needham.k12.ma.us/eliot/technology/lessons/explorers/tools.htm</a>, and <a href="https://sciencing.com/tools-used-early-explorers-5389774.html">https://sciencing.com/tools-used-early-explorers-5389774.html</a>.  These will help get you started, but you may need to do further research.</div><div>o   If you find the definitions of any vocabulary words, write them down (page 1).</div><div>·       Watch CNN10</div><div>o   Write a paragraph in your notebook about one thing you found very interesting from today’s CNN10.  Summarize it and tell why you found it interesting.<br><br></div>]]></description>
