Their culture has spread throughout the UK as places not in Cumbria now sell them as many people find them adorable. They use funds from sales to support sustainable rural projects, so just the cuteness of the sheep has helped develop useful schemes. However it’s made in Sri Lanka so that is kind of ironic for it being sustainable.
