An example of this would be when asks shmuel what happened to his eye when if he actually was able to link things he would realise it was because he stole food&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>C)</div><ul><li>Bruno's mispronunciation of Auschwitz (out-with)&nbsp;</li><li>Bruno's mispronunciation of Fuhrer (fury)&nbsp;</li><li>Bruno always wanted to know what was on the other side of the fence&nbsp;</li><li>He didn't understand why the people on the other side of the fence always looked upset and where crying&nbsp;</li><li>Bruno thought Shmuel was lucky because he lived on the other side of the fence with all the other people</li><li>Bruno didn't understand why Lieutenant kotler did what he did to Pavel, yelled at Shmuel and shot the dog</li><li>Bruno didn't understand why his gandmother was so angry at his father for working for the Fury&nbsp;</li><li>d)this is relevant to modern day life because it reflects of how some people are innocent in today's life in the court of law and how many people are not innocent so they are locked up in jail or have not been discovered yet for their crimes. &nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A)<br>&nbsp;A group of people, usually the same blood (doesn't have to be) who genuinely love, trust, care about, and look out for each other. Not to be mistaken with<br><br>B)John Boyne was using the grandmas disapproval to show how families do not always agree. The parents roles in the family also were important because the father was seen as serious and the head of the house, while the mum is seen as the carer.<br><br>C)</div><ul><li>The dad is the head of the house.          <title>Gender Roles</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A. The role or behavior learned by a person as appropriate to their gender, determined by the prevailing cultural norms.<br>B. John Boyne gave the characters distinctive rolls. Bruno's father is the head of the family, which Bruno aspires to be. Bruno's mother listens and obeys to what the father wishes,as well as Maria. The female roles do not have a say in what happens, they don't have power. John Boyne structures the family in a traditional manner. With the father being the protective figure and provider.          <title>Complicity (Going with the flow, bystander)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>A. Complicity is the fact or condition of being involved with others in an activity that is unlawful or morally wrong.<br><br><br>B.<br>I think that John Boyne was trying to demonstrate through characters such as Maria, Mother and Herr Liszt, that there were people knew what was happening in camps like Auschwitz but didn't do anything about it. What he is trying to say is that yes, the Nazis and Hitler were responsible for the Holocaust and Jews/other inmates being killed and locked up in camps but there were many people not necessarily involved but were bystanders in this matter all the same. This is used to symbolise that most of the population of Germany knew or had an idea of what was happening in concentration camps but just went with it or pretended that it wasn't happening as it did not directly affect them or their families. <br>C. <strong>Evidence from the text</strong></div><ul><li>Mother - Mother had to move to Auschwitz for Father's job, however she doesn't agree with it. &nbsp;</li><li>Herr Liszt - He teaches Bruno and Gretel about how Germans are the best. He also teaches antisemitism.</li><li>Bruno - He does not understand the enormity of what goes on at Auschwitz, so he just follows along and believes that what father is doing is right.</li><li>Gretel - Gretel somewhat understands what goes on in Auschwitz. She believes that it is right and Germans are better than Jews. She just follows along what the family does.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br>D.&nbsp;</div><ul><li>In the book, complicity is used to remind us that even though the innocent bystander does not directly take part in the plot, they indirectly affect it by keeping quiet. Bruno's mother knows what is&nbsp; going on; the occupation of her husband. She does not do anything, but decides to go back home to Berlin. This shows she wants nothing to do with this, but she is also indirectly helping because she is not doing anything to help.&nbsp;</li></ul><div>&nbsp;</div><ul><li>In today's modern society complicity continues to live in situations such as bullying, pollution and global warming. While we are not directly tormenting a person, dumping insane amounts of plastic bags into the oceans or neither are we technically burning the fossil fuels ourselves, but we all take part. Whether we stand and watch the person being bullied or mindlessly throwing rubbish, we are all unknowingly being complicit.</li><li>Are we at fault with these environmental changes?</li><li>What can we do to help better this problems?</li><li>What is the government doing to help better this problem?</li><li>How can we make sure we are not being complicit with issues such as this? &nbsp;</li><li>Is our complicity affected by our bias opinions?</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A)Friendship: the state of being a friend; association as friends.<br>Friendly feeling or disposition.</div><div><br>B)&nbsp;</div><ul><li>&nbsp;John Boyne portrays a strong sense of friendship by demonstrating continuous acts of kindness and forgiveness between Bruno and Shmuel.&nbsp;</li><li>Despite their differences in religion and family values they still uphold a strong friendship.</li><li>&nbsp;Bruno doesn’t see a Jew and Shmuel doesn’t see a German.
