Flower ring:
This was the first project of the semester besides the sterling sliver ring. For this project, I made a ring made of silver and copper wire. I made a flower/nature design with two silver leafs and the copper wire spiral center. I learned how to come up with basic designs and how to draw out my design in parts before beginning to work. I struggled with the design during the first week of the project and continued to go back and forth between designs. This ring was definitely not perfect and I was not very happy that the leaves were a bit uneven and the bottom part of the ring was a little crooked. I did like the end result however and I also liked experiencing a piece with multiple things to solder. If I could redo this piece I would take more time measuring the wire to make the piece more symmetrical.

Waterfall Necklace Piece:
For this piece, I made a necklace pendant with a design inspired by a waterfall. I used copper and silver sheet metal and silver wire for the chain. I learned how to pierce metal and how to saw as well as solder sheet metal. I struggled the most with trying to solder the two big pieces of metal together the first couple times and I also struggled with polishing. I was happy with how I was able to saw out most of the pieces carefully. I enjoyed making the design and sawing out the big pieces. If I could change anything about this project I would have been more careful when making and soldering the chain and jump rings.

Hot Twist Tapered Ring 11/30/16

This was one of my favorite projects of the semester. This ring was just a simple ring made with a piece of 10 gauge copper wire. During this project I learned 3 things: how to mill the wire, how to hot twist wire, and how to taper the ends of wire. I procrastinated to do this project and struggled with very little. I was nervous to use the new torch to do the twist because I am always nervous the first time I use new equipment. I was happy with having an even number of twists and even numbers of twists on the wire. I enjoyed twisting the wire and seeing how the metal could be twisted directions. If I could change anything on this project I might taper the ends a bit more but otherwise I would not change anything.

Choker Necklace:
For the forge flip project I made a choker. I used 10 gauge silver wire to make this piece. When making this piece, I learned how to use the forge flip technique on wire and also how to flatten and curl the ends. I was successful with keeping even curls and even spacing, however it took more than one try to make this necklace. I struggled with folding the wire correctly in the beginning. I enjoyed placing my curls and actually just doing the flipping when I got the hang of it. If I had the chance to redo this project, I would heat the ends to make the curls more defined and clean.

Color wheel enamel bezel bracelet:
With this project I made an enamel piece inspired by a color wheel. I used silver sheet metal for the bezel and I have made two hot twist wires to solder on the sides of the bezel. I learned how to make a bezel, how to do wet inlay, and also more intricate designs in enamel. For this project I struggled to finish (which I did not I will) and when making the enamel piece, one of the wire pieces fell over. I succeeded on filing and using the belt sander to smooth the edges of the bezel. I enjoyed doing the wet inlay for the enamel piece. If I could redo this project just tried to manage my time more wisely because some of the work days were slowed when we could not use the torches.
