From a period of birth to 18 months of age a child develops an opinion; wether the world is a safe place that can be trusted or if it is a place that one needs to be speculative of and scared of. This delemma of trust vs. mistrust is a toddlers way of deciding if they need to be fully autonomous or not, if they can rely on others or not.
As the book states," In toddlerhood, the critical theme is autonomy, or a sense of agency and indipendance.
As a young child I think I learned to trust the world. I was not afraid of being scared or betrayed or hurt. Instead I explored and experienced my surroundings with a confidence that I would be all right.

From a period of 1-2 years old to 3 years old a child begins to decide for themselves how confident they are in their own abilities to perform task for themselves.
As a child and even to a certain degree now I struggled with indecissiveness so I think I probably leaned to shame and guilt.
The book states that during this stage,"toddlers begin to substitute their own judgment for their caregivers."
My parents said I did this like any other child but I wasn't very decisive or forceful over the will of my parents. So this supports my conclusion that I leaned into the shame and guilt side of things.

From a period of age 3 to 5 a child begins to want to do things on their own accord but might be hindered by a feeling of potential or remaing guilt.
As a child growing up I think I was overwelmed with guilt and shame. I would get overly hung up over small mistakes that were relatively insignificant. It wasn't until I was much older that learned to not develop these feelings of guilt and shame.
The book states," If you feel ashamed after getting caught doing something others think is bad, that might keep you from doing it again."
As a child I was afraid do things because I felt ashamed because of an imagined disaproval from others. Growing up I learned that this imagined disaproval wasn't healthy or helpful.

From 6 to 11 children develop a desire to be useful and so they will complete task in order to fufuil their desire to be praised. Some children simply do not feel a desire to be praised or they feel that they are unworthy of praise.
As a child I did not strongly feel the need to be praised by others. The desire was there for sure but I don't think it was ever an extreme driving force for me. I was industrious however but I think that was due to competeviness against my twin brother and my other classmates.
The book states that," If the stage is succesfully resolved, children develop a view of themselves as being able to master skills and complete task."
Since I believe in my ability to master skills and complete task I think that I did succesfully resolve this stage.

Through their teenage years, a person attempts to find an identity for themselves that they are comfortable with and that they believe in. If they fail to do this a sense of confusion will pertain in their life.
The book states," Adolescants who resolve this identity crisis satisfactorily develop the virtue fidelity: sustained loyalty, faith, or a sense of belonging to a loved one or friends and companions."
I sustain a great love for my family and friends and I am confident in the trajetory of my life so I believe that I have resolved this stage.

Intimacy vs. Isolation is the period in your life where you learn whether your happiness comes from caring for and being with others or your happiness comes from being alone.

As things currently are I think I am progressing to Isolation because I invision myself seeking out adventures like living by myself far away or traveling to new places alone. Of course that can all change at the flip of a switch. I could meet someone and fall in love so much that nothing could make me happier than raising a family with them.

The book says,"Person seeks to make commitments to others or may suffer from isolation and self-absortion."

This supports my hypothesis that I'm aproaching Isolation but I do not believe I'm self-absorbed.

This is the stage in life where one accepts their inevitable demise and they choose to accept or not accept what they have accomplished in life.

The book states," Elderly person achieves acceptance of own life, allowing acceptance of death, or else despairs over inability to relive life."

I believe that I am a content person and I am content of the life I have lived so far.
