         <description><![CDATA[<div>Communication between students and teaching staff can be affected by the cultural differences. Misinterpretations can emerge<strong> </strong>from contrasting ways of showing respect, expectations about the role of the teacher and the professional correspondence between teacher and student. For instance: Students in Asia and Europe tend to have different expectations <em>about teacher guidance in small group teaching sessions.</em> <em>Asian students view the teacher as authority or expert who should provide them with clear instructions and the right answers while on the contrary providing a constructive feedback and serving as a facilitator in their learning process is what expected by the Dutch student.<br></em><br>
