I would say kahoot (with word problems, such as "what is this _______?" "what part of the equation is the ________?") is a great interactive activity to do with high schoolers. I also want to add, high schoolers may enjoy the childish stuff because they will think it's hilarious! Worth a try.

In my history and geography classrooms we had quiz bowl style games and card trivia games as interactive activities, so that could be something to consider!

there's a lot of interactive games online that are fun and competitive. some of my favorites are GEOguesser and setera. you either are searching for a location in the world or you are labeling a map. by adding a competition aspect to it the students will find it more engaging.

I think as long as the content is at the appropriate level and the activities actually prove beneficial in learning it will work.

I think a great way to engage the students is by giving them something hands-on. Have individual students create a map of certain places or an entirely different world. They can scale it on certain websites and create landmarks! It can be apart of a project or final assignment. I would have students create a map and make it readable with coordinates, while labeling landmarks. this will teach them how to read a map. It is important to learn the basics! I think so as long as you find something that is geared to students in the age group that you are teaching. Kids of all ages seem to love Kahoot games. I believe the change to interactive games may cause them to be more engaged and break the monotony.

In my geography class we always did quiz bowls, kahoots, and everyones favorite, jeopardy. There are also a lot of games that you can find online if you wanted your students to do them individually.
