The song "Breathin" by Ariana Grande addresses the similar issues I face with anxiety.

The song addresses Ariana Grande’s experience with anxiety attacks and how she has death with them. She mentions within the lyrics the classic hallucinations she experiences related to anxiety attacks like the intense sensation of blood pumping fast through the system, the spinning room, and the sky falling. It is difficult to navigate out of an anxiety attack because when you get an attack, you tend to be more focused on the hallucinations around you instead of what you should actually be focused on, but breathing is a solution Ariana Grande has found.

I never thought that simply breathing would help me relax because the unbearable amount of anxiety I have sometimes makes it seem impossible to stop, but I was wrong. I listened to this song and decided to give it a try. I was able to refocus myself from just taking slow deep breaths and it has allowed me to tune out the voices in my head. This song has been a reminder to me, whenever it comes on the radio, to take a step back and stop thinking about everything that is stressing me out all at once.

Read more: https://genius.com/Ariana-grande-breathin-lyrics

The poetry book that taught me about the journey of growth and healing is called "The Sun and Her Flowers" by Rupi Kaur.

The poetry book “The Sun and Her Flowers” includes five chapters of poems on loss, love, loneliness, and identity. It is the journey of wilting, falling, rooting, rising, and blooming with the concept of love in all its forms. The theme or her book is centered around the process of self-growth through poems that portray so much emotion and discusses issues that many of her young female audience will experience.

Through her poems, Rupi Kaur has taught me that it’s okay not to be okay. It is okay to feel sad and lack confidence. It is okay to take your time to find your inner self-belief and self-love when you find yourself comparing your life with others. Her poems state that you should take all the time you need to be yourself and focus on being the best version of you. She has taught me to embrace those sad feelings and to keep going through the hard times because happiness is always around the corner.

The film that developed my concept of perseverance is Finding Nemo by Andrew Stanton.

The film Finding Nemo is about a clown fish named Marlin who is overly cautious with his son Nemo because he has a foreshortened fin. Nemo is caught by a diver and Marlin must set out to find him. Marlin shows his anxieties and fears concerning the open ocean and the unknown throughout his journey. He becomes friends with a blue reef fish named Dory that helps Marlin persevere and achieve his goal of finding his son, while encountering many ocean dangers on the way like sharks and jellyfish.

Fear is a valuable thing because it keeps people safe by encouraging caution when caution is due, but it also limits people when moments of bravery are really what are needed to make your life better. The character Marlin has taught me that my goals can be achieved by learning to face my fears. Marlin is a little clown fish in the big blue sea that never gave up when faced with deadly situations and never even thought of backtracking. I learned that all a person has to do in life is to believe in themselves and they will accomplish anything they set their mind to.

The musical called “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” taught me to never give up on my dreams.

The musical focuses on the most dramatic part of Carole King’s life, which were her teenage years. Carole King found her passion in life and was determined to break into the music business as a teenager in New York during the late ‘50s. And she did, becoming part of one of the most successful songwriting teams in pop, with her husband Gerry Goffin. The narrative of the musical tells the story of a young kid who breaks into the music business, has tremendous success, and has her heart broken due to her husband leaving her.

Carole King became pregnant at seventeen and had a husband that experimented with drugs who eventually left her, but she did not let her personal struggles affect her determination to attain her dream of becoming a songwriter. She taught me that when challenges are thrown your way, you have to take things one step at a time. The process of accomplishing your dream is not an easy one and when things get hard, you have to believe in yourself.
